Key Manager Information

Signed-on to be a Manager for your daughter's team this season? We can't thank you enough!

Season Draw

WHAT ARE THE DATES WE PLAY AND WHERE DO I FIND THE DRAW?

A full fixtures calendar is on the DPNA website, and once the draw is released by DPNA.  DPNA use Netball Connect for scoring. We strongly suggest all parents download the Netball Connect for scoring during the season.

DPNA website / socials will announce when the draw has been released Friday 17 April @ 5pm

Communication is Queen, and you are it!

  • From time-to-time, you may be asked to email out communications to your team. These are often shared from our Secretary or another committee member, and may relate to key events coming up (e.g. team photos, fundraising days).
  • If training or games are washed-out through rain, you will need to notify your team. The best way to check if games have been weather-affected are through the  Canons Facebook page
  • The decision to cancel Monday night trainings will be made by 3:30pm on the relevant day, and will be posted on our Facebook page.
  • Should your team have any queries about fixtures or upcoming events, you are the first point of contact. Both our website and Facebook page, as well as the DPNA website, should hopefully have the information you're looking for, however if need be you can reach out to the relevant committee member. Just like your volunteer Manager role, our committee members are also volunteers, so they may take a couple of days to get back to you.
  • Each week, you can send an email out to your team a couple of days prior to your game, reminding them of the playing time, court allocation, what time they need to be there, and any other important information (e.g. a reminder to make sure nails are trimmed).
  • It may be worth asking the parents within your team if any player has planned absences (e.g. holidays, camps, other sporting commitments) during the season. This way, your team will be able to plan if any borrowing of players from other Canons teams may be required. There are some strict guidelines on which team you can borrow from, meaning the more time we have to plan for player absences, the more time available to ensure we follow the rules while also fielding a full team on court.
  • There are rules regarding forfeiting games that can lead to fines if not communicated in a timely manner. Your team must field a minimum of 5 players to take the court or your team must forfeit. Forfeiting a game is costly to your team as your opponent is automatically granted a win and the associated points. It is your responsibility as manager to ensure that you can field a team each week (although we are happy to guide you how to find fill-ins). Where this is impossible, despite your best efforts to find fill-ins, you will need to forfeit your game. You will need to notify the registrar and president via email by 9am on the Friday prior to the fixture.
